Saturday wrestling event to entertain, benefit veterans

MINERAL WELLS — By Chris Agee | cagee@mineralwellsindex.com

After a successful event last month, with nearly all profits going to the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department, House of Pain Pro Wrestling founder Mike Harthcock is doing it again Saturday, this time benefiting a local veteran organization.

Harthcock, also a wrestler known as Blade, said Saturday’s event, called “Red, White and Bruised,” will feature numerous matches with both local and widely recognized wrestlers.

As with last month’s presentation, the event will be held at the Palo Pinto County Livestock Association’s Expo Center, located at 1300 Farm-to-Market 1821, across from Walmart.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12, though Harthcock said half-price admission is available for a limited time to those calling ahead for tickets.

Individuals interested in reduced-price tickets are asked to call (817) 901-7950 for more information.

Like all HOPPW events, Harthcock promises attendees an action-packed night with some of the region’s greatest wrestling talent.

A title match pits Larry Green against The Specialist MVP, and Cervante the Latin Vampire goes head-to-head with Aski in a Spanish-style luchador match.

Harthcock is also excited to present Max Muscles “the Man in Pink” taking on “Old School Enforcer” Ruben Rivera and says there is a special designation for the match-up of Mike Savage and Rock Bannon.

“This is the grudge match of the decade,” he said of the pairing.

The first match begins at 8:30 p.m., Harthcock said, though arriving before the bell has an added benefit.

“Get there early so you can get seats in the rowdy crowd,” he said.

The rowdy crowd section allows fans arriving early to choose from premiere seats in the first three rows, closer to the action with the ability to “see the wrestlers up close,” he said.

While he promoted and hosted another “Red, White and Bruised” event almost exactly a year ago, Harthcock said he expects the turnout to be even greater this year, noting a rise in interest among locals for live wrestling shows.

A portion of the proceeds will be given to the local AmVets organization, Harthcock said
